GB win three golds at European Rowing Championships

Great Britain won gold medals in the women’s four and PR3 mixed coxed four races at the European Rowing Championships in Italy, while a men’s four development team also claimed victory.

Eleanor Brinkhoff, Angharad Broughton, Sarah Marshall and Holly Youd led most of the women’s four race before holding off Germany to take their win.

In the PR3 mixed coxed four, Frankie Allen, Charlotte Coburn, Josh O’Brien, Jonty Ridley and cox Omar Al-Miqdadi put in a dominant display as they won by nearly six seconds from Italy.

The men’s four crew of Theo Bell, Josh Brangan, Sam Ford and Tom O’Sullivan looked in a strong position and, despite being closed down by Romania in the latter stages, managed to hold on to triumph.

The event in Varese is taking place prior to the 2026 World Championships, which run from 24-30 August in the Netherlands.

The men’s team for the Worlds are absent from Italy as they are training in Switzerland.
