Woman found dead in suitcase at Kansas fire station: Police

A homicide investigation is underway after a 67-year-old woman was found dead in a suitcase at a Kansas fire station, police said.

The investigation began Wednesday evening when two people went to Wichita Fire Station 22 with a suitcase, saying a body was inside, the Wichita Police Department said.

The woman has since been identified as Lorretta Moody, police said on Friday.

The authorities said they’re interviewing the two people who brought the suitcase to the fire station and are “working to determine how the woman and the individuals being interviewed are connected to one another.”

Police have not announced any arrests but said there’s no apparent threat to the public.

Police said on Friday that “investigators are continuing to interview individuals, review evidence, and work to establish a complete timeline of events.”
