Jos Buttler produced a masterful 90 from 50 balls as Manchester Super Giants demolished Birmingham Phoenix by 87 runs to maintain their perfect start to The Hundred.
After scoring his highest T20 score of 131 against India earlier this month, the England wicketkeeper-batter continued his resurgence, striking seven fours and five sixes to lead the home side to 187-5.
It was the second-highest Hundred total at Old Trafford and one that Phoenix fell well short of as they were bundled out for 100, handing Super Giants their second win from as many matches.
The supporters in Manchester endured a long wait on Sunday as the women’s fixture was washed out and the men’s game delayed by 30 minutes.
But once action got under way, they were treated to a sensational innings from Buttler.
Super Giants suffered early setbacks as Tim Seifert and captain Aiden Markram fell cheaply but Buttler combined power-hitting with deft touches around the ground to bring up his half-century in 31 balls.
