NHS App Management Information – April 2026



This publication provides information on the number of users and usage of the NHS App, and of features available through it. It aims to provide an open and accessible data source to give insight into how the public are using the NHS App, and how usage changes over time. Data are included for the following measures at ICB and national levels:- NHS App monthly logins: The number of NHS App sessions recorded over a calendar month.- NHS App monthly unique user logins: The number of distinct NHS App accounts that have logged into the app over a calendar month.- NHS App unique user logins in 12 months: The number of distinct NHS App accounts that have logged into the app over the previous 12 months.- NHS App prescription orders: The number of prescription order events recorded in the NHS App over a calendar month.- NHS App unique users ordering prescriptions: The number of distinct NHS App accounts that triggered a prescription order event in the app over a calendar month.- NHS App account registrations: The number of new user accounts that have completed the NHS App registration process over a calendar month.Data are included for the following measure at national level only:- NHS App all-time account registrations: The number of user accounts that have completed the NHS App registration process since recording began, up to the end of the calendar month.Additionally, from this release, the publication includes a number of measures related to the prescription tracking features of the NHS App. These figures are presented at national level only and are:- Pharmacy sites live with prescription tracking: The number of pharmacy sites live with the prescription tracking feature within the NHS App, based on pharmacy nomination, at the end of the calendar month.- Percentage of pharmacy sites live with prescription tracking: The percentage of pharmacy sites live with the prescription tracking feature within the NHS App, based on pharmacy nomination, at the end of the calendar month.- Patients with tracking enabled: The number of people with the prescription tracking feature enabled, based on pharmacy nomination and regardless of whether they have the NHS App, at the end of the calendar month.- Percentage of patients with tracking enabled: The percentage of people with the prescription tracking feature enabled, based on pharmacy nomination and regardless of whether they have the NHS App, at the end of the calendar month.- Unique patients using the service – monthly: The number of unique users who viewed a prescription tracking update on the Approved Prescriptions page in the NHS App over a calendar month.- Visits by patients using the service – monthly: The number of visits (NHS App user sessions) during which a prescription tracking update was viewed on the Approved Prescriptions page in the NHS App over a calendar month.- Unique patients using the service – cumulative: The total number of unique users who have viewed a prescription tracking update on the Approved Prescriptions page in the NHS App up to the end of the calendar month.- Visits by patients using the service – cumulative: The total number of visits (NHS App user sessions) during which a prescription tracking update was viewed on the Approved Prescriptions page in the NHS App up to the end of the calendar month.- Pharmacy sites live with notifications: The number of pharmacy sites live with the prescription tracking feature and “Ready to Collect” notifications within the NHS App, based on pharmacy nomination, at the end of the calendar month.- Percentage of pharmacy sites live with notifications: The percentage of pharmacy sites live with the prescription tracking feature and “Ready to Collect” notifications within the NHS App, based on pharmacy nomination, at the end of the calendar month.- “Ready to Collect” notifications sent: The number of “Ready to Collect” notifications sent to NHS App users about the status of a prescription over a calendar month.- Read rate: The proportion of “Ready to Collect” notifications sent to NHS App users over a calendar month that were read.- Read by unique users: The number of unique NHS App users who read at least one “Ready to Collect” notification over a calendar month.- All-time “Ready to Collect” notifications sent: The total number of “Ready to Collect” notifications sent to NHS App users about the status of a prescription up to the end of the calendar month.

We plan to continue to expand the number of measures reported. From this release, the time series has been extended back to December 2020 where figures are available. In addition, NHS App users’ GP practices have been mapped to the new ICB structure, which came into effect on 1 April 2026. Please see the Changes in this Release page for more information.
