Alfie Hewett is through to the quarter-finals of the men’s wheelchair singles at the French Open but fellow Briton Gordon Reid lost his first-round match.
Hewett, 28, beat French wildcard Guilhem Laget 6-3 6-0 on Court Suzanne Lenglen after their match was moved because of rain in Paris.
The 10-time Grand Slam champion has won the French Open on three occasions but most recently lifted the clay title in 2021.
He will face China’s Ji Zhenxu for a place in the semi-finals later in the week.
Earlier, 34-year-old Reid was beaten 6-2 6-4 by eight-time Grand Slam champion Tokito Oda in a rain-interrupted match.
It is the first time the Scot has failed to reach at least the quarter-finals at Roland Garros, having made his debut at the competition in 2013.
