Red Bull Junior driver Fionn McLaughlin scored his first points in Formula 3 in the sprint race at Silverstone.
The teenager, from Northern Ireland, finished in ninth place to collect the first two points of his debut season.
Hitech Racing’s McLaughlin stepped up to Formula 3, which supports Formula 1 on Grand Prix weekends, after winning the British F4 title last year.
American driver Ugo Ugochukwu won the race ahead of Yevan David and Theophile Nael.
McLaughlin will start from sixth place for the feature race at 08:25 BST on Sunday, when British driver Freddie Slater will start from pole position.
In Formula 2, title challenger Alex Dunne finished in ninth place in the Formula 2 sprint race.
Bulgaria’s Nikola Tsolov won his fifth race of the season ahead of championship leader Gabriele Mini and Mexico’s Rafael Villagomez.
Dunne, who is an Alpine junior driver, will start the feature race from second on the grid behind Rafael Camara.
The Formula 2 feature races takes place at 11:15 BST before the British Grand Prix.
