A gunman was barricaded in a building in Midland, Texas, on Friday morning after a shooting that killed at least one person and left 11 victims, officials said.

Officers responded to an active shooter incident in the 4600 block of West Wall Street and heard “gunfire coming from the building,” police said.
The scene was quickly secured and the area cleared, but efforts to end the standoff remain ongoing, the city said in a Facebook post.
Armored units have been deployed, and other law enforcement agencies are providing assistance.
City officials asked the public to avoid the area.
“Additional information will be released as it becomes available,” the city said in a post on X.
