Four people were killed and 90 remain trapped following a coal mine accident in northern China, according to Chinese state media.
The incident occurred Friday night local time at the Liushenyu coal mine in Changzhi City, according to the Chinese state news agency Xinhua.
Carbon monoxide levels “exceeded limits” in the mine, according to Xinhua.
A total of 247 workers were underground at the time, according to Xinhua. Of those, 157 people, including four confirmed dead, have since been brought to the surface, state media said.
Among the 90 workers who remain trapped underground are 16 people in critical condition, it said.
