SC Next Top 25: High school girls’ basketball rankings for 2025-26

It’s championship season in basketball. As Champ Week begins in women’s college hoops, girls’ high school programs are finalizing their seasons all over the country. The SC Next high school Power Rankings will heavily influence the Chipotle Nationals field, expected to be named in mid-March. Here is the latest rundown of headlines from the last two weeks:

  • Bishop McNamara (Md.) won its second consecutive WCAC championship by defeating Bishop Ireton (Va.) 59-45, led by sophomore Jaylah King’s 27 points and 14 rebounds.

  • Sierra Canyon (Calif.) beat Ontario Christian (Calif.) in the CIF Open Division Southern Sectional Championship on Saturday night. Sierra Canyon was led by South Carolina commit and McDonald’s All-American Jerzy Robinson (32 points, 12 rebounds, 3 of 5 from 3, 11 of 12 from the free throw line). The No. 1 player in the 2027 class, Kaleena Smith, led the way for Ontario Christian with 30 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists — although she went just 1-for-9 from 3.

  • Friends Central (Pa.) got a seemingly unlikely 62-54 win over Westtown (Pa.) in the PAISAA state championship, despite losing to its state rival twice already during the season. Junior forward (2027 No. 47) Zya Small led Friends Central with 18 points, while 2027 No. 6 Jordyn Palmer led Westtown with 27 points.

  • Red Bank Catholic (N.J.) won the Shore Conference Championship after defeating rival St. John Viannay (N.J.) 53-49. Indiana signee and McDonald’s All-American Addison Nyemchek had 13 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the champions.

  • Bishop Gorman (Nev.) won the NIAA 5A championship in double-overtime over Democracy Prep (Nev.) 79-76. Texas signee and McDonald’s All-American Aaliah Spaight led Gorman with 23 points.
