Marcia Gay Harden has joined the cast of the upcoming Netflix thriller series “Trinity” in a series regular role, Variety has learned.
The acclaimed actress joins previously announced leads Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Richard Madden in the show, which hails from “Bodyguard” creator Jed Mercurio. Netflix has ordered eight episodes. The official logline for the series states:
“A heroic female Naval Officer (Mbatha-Raw) becomes involved with the outwardly charismatic Secretary of Defense (Madden), only to discover he may be at the heart of a dangerous conspiracy.”
Harden will play Margaret Vandenburg, who is described as “the CEO and matriarch of her family’s business empire, guiding them to become a prominent family with political ties.”
It was reported in March that Harden will appear in Season 2 of “Murder in a Small Town” at Fox, while she is also set to guest star in the Apple TV+ series “Margo’s Got Money Trouble.” She recently starred in the CBS dramedy “So Help Me Todd” for two seasons. She has received Emmy nominations for her work in “The Morning Show,” “The Courageous Heart of Irena Sendler,” and for guest starring on “Law & Order: SVU.” She won the Academy Award for best supporting actress for her work in “Pollock” and was nominated in the same category for the film “Mystic River.” She will next be seen starring opposite Sophie Turner and Kit Harington in “The Dreadful,” which wrapped production in England earlier this year.
She is repped by Framework Entertainment, Independent Artist Group, Schreck Rose, and The Initiative Group.
Mercurio serves as writer, executive producer, and showrunner on the series under his Hat Trick Mercurio (HTM) banner. Jimmy Mulville of HTM will also executive produce along with Wendy Mericle (“Willow,” “Arrow”). Michael Cuesta (“Dexter,” “Homeland”) will direct and executive produce the first and second episodes. 20th Television is the studio.
