Zendaya Wears $35 Spider-Man T-Shirt to ‘Brand New Day’ Event in Paris

A Zendaya press cycle usually means one couture — and project-themed — look after another. But for her latest stop on the “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” world tour, on Wednesday in Paris, the Emmy winner rocked a simple, oversized black t-shirt with the webslinger on the front.

Of course, Zendaya and her longtime stylist Law Roach paired the vintage graphic tee with white Christian Louboutin pumps — it is a red carpet photocall, after all — but the real news is that Roach copped the look on eBay for $34.99.

“Style doesn’t always have to cost a fortune,” Roach wrote on his Instagram stories, posting a screenshot of the eBay listing for the shirt. (Whoever sold that pre-owned 2XL tee likely cannot believe on whose super-stylish back it ended up.)

Over the years, Zendaya and Roach have crafted major red carpet fashion moments, including making Met Gala magic in 2019 with a Tommy Hilfiger gown that transformed Zendaya into Cinderella; sourcing a skintight metallic Thierry Mugler bodysuit (fall/winter ’95) for the “Dune: Part Two” premiere; her troupe of tenniscore outfits for “Challengers,” including custom Loewe and Lacoste looks; and the many spider-web-adorned styles for the four “Spider-Man” movies over the last decade.

Most recently, the duo told a bridal-themed story for her wedding dramedy, “The Drama” — recycling the white Vivienne Westwood gown Zendaya first wore to the 2015 Oscars as “something old” and culminating with a black-and-blue feathered Schiaparelli ballgown, fresh off the runway, as “something blue.” Zendaya and her “Spider-Man” Tom Holland also got married during this juncture, but the world may never see what the uber fashionable — and uber private — couple wore when they walked down the aisle.

Zendaya kicked off the “Brand New Day” press tour in Madrid with a fire-engine red Ernest Naranjo dress and a black Christian Cowan gown. In Amsterdam, she opted for a dramatic McQueen opera coat and dress with metallic floral embroidery and a black-and-red embellished Louis Vuitton look. Then, in Berlin, she rocked a custom Black leather Louis Vuitton crop top and skirt. For Rome, Zendaya went archival, wearing a stunning beaded spiderweb dress from Giorgio Armani (spring ’90) and a shimmering Versace crop top and skirt (fall ’97).

Holland and Zendaya star in the film, from Sony and Marvel Studios, in U.S. theaters on July 31.
