Former US Open champion Graeme McDowell has secured one of the final nine qualification spots for this year’s edition in Shinnecock Hills.
McDowell, from Northern Ireland, came through a 36-hole qualifier in Dallas with two rounds of 69.
It will be a first major for McDowell since his 10-year exemption from winning the US Open ended in 2020.
The 46-year-old, who is considering rejoining the DP World Tour with the Irish Open and Ryder Cup in mind, joined the breakaway LIV Golf tour in 2022.
Northern Ireland’s Tom McKibbin withdrew from the tournament in Dallas and Sergio Garcia missed out on qualification by two strokes.
The US Open at Shinnecock Hills, on Long Island in New York, takes place from 18-21 June.
