England women: Keira Barry gets first call-up as Freya Godfrey injured

Bay FC forward Keira Barry has been called up to the England squad for the first time for the upcoming Women’s World Cup qualifiers against Spain and Iceland.

Barry, 20, moved to the United States from Manchester United in January and moves up from England Under-23s.

She replaces London City Lionesses’ forward Freya Godfrey, who has withdrawn with a shoulder injury and will remain with her club for treatment.

Chelsea defender Niamh Charles also returns to the squad, which expands from 23 players to 24, following her return from a dislocated shoulder.

Charles, 26, has featured in Chelsea’s past three games and was part of the England squad who retained their European title in Switzerland last year.

The 24-player squad will meet at St George’s Park on Tuesday before facing Spain on 14 April (19:00 GMT) at Wembley Stadium.

England then take on Iceland in Reykjavik on Saturday, 18 April (17:30 GMT) hoping to maintain their winning start to their 2027 World Cup qualifying campaign.
