This feels like a good occasion for Bert Kreischer to rip his shirt off and celebrate: Netflix has given the stand-up comedian’s scripted sitcom “Free Bert” a Season 2 renewal.
The renewal comes in advance of the streamer’s 2026 edition of its “Netflix Is a Joke” comedy festival, in which Kreischer will play a major role. He’s once again part of the morning fun run “2 Bears 5K,” which he hosts with Tom Segura and Jelly Roll, at the Rose Bowl on May 9. And also at the fest, he is hosting “Bert and Shaq’s Crowd Work Show” at the Comedy Store on May 8.
“Free Bert” launched on Jan. 22 and Netflix said the show debuted in its global top 10. Season 1 of Free Bert recently premiered on January 22, 2026 and debuted in the Global Top 10. Kreischer stars with Arden Myrin, Ava Ryan and Lilou Lang.
Kreischer created the series with Jarrad Paul and Andy Mogel; Paul and Mogel serve as showrunners, writers and directors. Here’s the logline for Season 1: “Bert Kreischer—shirtless comedian, party legend, perpetual wildcard—finds himself in uncharted territory when his daughters are accepted to an elite Beverly Hills private school. When his unbridled antics turn his family into outcasts, he decides to “put on a shirt” and stifle his true nature to better fit in.”
“We’re incredibly grateful to Netflix for believing in this show and giving us the chance to continue the freeing of Bert,” Paul and Mogel said in a joint statement.
Kreischer exec produces with LeeAnn Kreischer, Tony Hernandez, Lilly Burns and Elise Henderson for Counterpart Studios and Judi Marmel.
Season 2 of “Free Bert” will once again film in Atlanta, where Netflix notes it has also shot “Stranger Things” and “His & Hers,” as well as the upcoming “’Tis So Sweet,” “All the Sinners Bleed,” “Sweet Magnolias” Season 5 and “A Different World.”
Kreischer has become quite a familiar face on Netflix, including five stand-up specials with the service. He has also served as a tailgate correspondent on Netflix’s NFL Christmas Gameday, has appeared several times on “WWE Monday Night Raw” and is slated to be a part of Netflix’s MLB Opening Night coverage.
