More Trader Joe’s frozen fried rice products are being recalled because of possible contamination with glass.
Ajinomoto Foods North America, Inc. and the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service announced the voluntary recall expansion Tuesday, including Trader Joe’s branded frozen packages of Chicken Fried Rice, Vegetable Fried Rice, Japanese Style Fried Rice and Chicken Shu Mai products.
Millions of Trader Joe’s fried rice packages and frozen chicken shu mai packages are being voluntarily recalled due to a potential foreign matter contamination.

Trader Joe’s also notified customers of the expanded recall in a newsletter Tuesday, noting the affected products and best by dates: Chicken Fried Rice (03/04/2026 through 02/10/2027); Vegetable Fried Rice (02/28/2026 through 11/19/2026); Japanese Style Fried Rice (02/28/2026 through 11/14/2026); and Chicken Shu Mai (03/13/2026 through 10/23/2026).
The expansion comes nearly two weeks after a recall of over 3 million pounds of Trader Joe’s Chicken Fried Rice with stir fried rice, vegetables, seasoned dark chicken meat and eggs.
Ajinomoto Foods North America, Inc. said in a statement to ABC News Wednesday that the recall expansion was initiated “out of an abundance of caution.”
“We have expanded on our voluntary recall for certain frozen products that may contain glass. There have been no injuries or adverse reactions to date,” the Oregon-based company said in its statement. “We are committed to maintaining the highest safety standards, and we continue to work closely with the USDA. For recall details, consumers should visit www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls or call the USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline at 1-888-674-6854.”
Other branded, ready-to-eat frozen foods produced by Ajinomoto Foods North America, Inc. are also included in the recall, totaling approximately 33,617,045 additional pounds, according to the updated recall notice. They include foods under the Ajinomoto, Kroger, Ling Ling, and Tai Pei brands.

In its Tuesday newsletter, Trader Joe’s advised customers not to consume or use any recalled products. The grocery chain said customers can discard recalled foods and return them to any Trader Joe’s store location for a full refund.
