The U.S. Embassy in Bahrain issued a grave warning to Americans there that hotels might be targeted in the wake of a series of strikes on Iran.
“The U.S. Embassy in Bahrain is tracking confirmed reports the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Manama was struck on March 1, 2026, resulting in injuries,” the embassy said in a statement posted on X. “We advise U.S. citizens in Bahrain that hotels might be a target for future attacks, and encourage U.S. citizens to avoid hotels in Manama.”
The warning comes as Iran has unleashed waves of missile attacks on states in the Gulf region after the surprise joint U.S.-Israeli operation there on Saturday.
In the United Arab Emirates, the death toll is mounting, with at least three killed and 58 injured, according to the country’s Ministry of Defense.
The UAE said that Iran launched more than 100 missiles and 500 drones into the country since the start of hostiles, according to the statement Sunday. While the missiles were destroyed or fell into the sea, 35 drones fell into the territory killing three, the ministry said.
“The ministry expressed that it is on high alert and readiness to deal with any threats, and confirmed that the safety of citizens, residents, and visitors represents the utmost priority that cannot be compromised,” the ministry said in the statement.
In Dubai, video appeared to show explosions Saturday at the Palm Jumeirah, manmade islands in the Persian Gulf.
The Ministry of Defense said the UAE had intercepted missiles over Abu Dhabi and Dubai and that debris had fallen with no injuries.
Iran also appears to have targeted Qatar, Kuwait and Oman.
Qatar’s Ministry of Defense said it had intercepted attacks Sunday morning “involving drones and Cruise missiles launched by Iran.” And the Ministry of the Interior said “Civil defense is dealing with a limited fire in the industrial area resulting from shrapnel falling after intercepting a missile, with no injuries recorded.”
Oman, which was mediating talks between the U.S. and Iran, experienced its first strike of the conflict as well.
Qatar condemned strikes on Oman as “an unacceptable escalation, and a cowardly targeting of a country playing an active role in mediation efforts.”
